Genuinely the worst class I have taken at UVA so far. The material could be interesting, but it is taught in a super boring way; lectures are the longest hour and 15 minutes of your week. Tyler Jo is unnecessarily strict and uptight, and she acts like students are still in high school, doing things like taking attendance in a big lecture hall and calling out people for being on their phones for even a minute. The two big worksheets aren't super hard, necessarily, but they just feel like pointless busy work. If you put in a ton of effort, a decent grade is attainable, but unless you really love archaeology, I would strongly advise against taking this class; it is not worth the mundane lectures, the strict professor, and the boring readings.
