This is hands-down one of the best courses I've taken at UVA. It's a great 2nd writing requirement, since Lisa spreads out the papers so it's only one or two pages per week and a 6-page essay on an interview that you conduct yourself! Not only are the topics super interesting, but Lisa is a great professor and she's extremely knowledgeable about everything. There are a few guest speakers who are also very insightful. Would highly recommend reading all readings since they are great references during class discussions. Only con is that the class is 2 1/2 hours, but Lisa always allows for a small break in the middle so you won't fall asleep. Super recommend because everything in this class is important in the real world, good luck getting off the waitlist though!

Hands down one of my favorite classes I've ever taken at UVA. Lisa is the most down to earth and casual professor I have ever had. She knows so much about her field and always brings great energy to class.

Lisa is great! She is very down to earth and makes things easy to understand. The workload is not overwhelming at all. However, you still learn a lot from the class. This class significantly changed how I think about gender roles and wasn't stressful at all.
