ENLT 2555

I took Selfies: self portraiture and poetry as a J-term class. Amazing class. I'm a 4th year psych major with little interest or experience in poetry---took this to fulfill my 2nd writing req.
Prof. Spaar was my favorite teacher at UVa. She really cares about teaching, is super supportive, and empathizes--more than any other professor that I've had.
I definitely recommend any of her classes!

Probably the best class to fulfill the second writing requirement. At the beginning of the class Prof Spaar said "It would be hard not to get an A in this class". Right off the bat I knew this was the right class to take. Every Wednesday we went on field trips, one week she bought us cupcakes at SweetHaus. Every Friday we did art projects based on artists we had learned about. I took this in the summer and we almost always got out of class a little bit early/always got a break halfway through. She usually brought candy and passed it around too. I took this class the summer going into my senior year of high school and Professor Spaar even offered to write my recommendation for college apps and proofread my college essays. She's the best and you're missing out if you don't take at least one class with her. The final is a portfolio of all the poems you've written and analyzation of artwork that particularly "spoke to you". Very easy, I highly recommend this class because I hate art/history but now I know a lot about famous artists/artworks and can sound intelligent when people mention their love for Frida Kahlo.
