Written about READING RAINBOW: Queer texts & theory. This class was okay, I was hoping for more current stuff but that's alright. The class went over books from 1890 to 2015. It starts out with just rich white gays but eventually we got some actual intersectional identities. I thought the class got better later in the semester when we read more recent things I'd actually heard of before. For the most part I liked the required reading, but sometimes it was a whole lot on top of other hw. In the case of one book, Zami, I found the book very triggering, and though Becca was sympathetic, she made no attempt to give future trigger warnings about things we read. She also has a bad habit of calling on people and then promptly interrupting them, which most of the class has noticed.

Written for "Queer Theory" Spring 2015.
Becca is a fabulous teacher! She's totally accessible and ready to help out students whenever they request it. The readings for this course are interesting and the class discussions are fun and actually motivated me to come to a 9am class. Becca grades the first paper harshly, but if you meet with her to debrief it, you will almost certainly achieve higher marks on the second.
