You're graded on participation, 3 policy memos on the country you're following, and a midterm and a final. The midterm and final make up of short answer and essay questions. She's very knowledgeable about her field since she has worked at the World Bank. Depending on the lecture, it can be interesting or super boring, never an in-between. She records all her lectures but you should definitely attend since she checks participation. Midterm and final are easy if you memorize her slides.
I loved this class and thought Professor Braithwaite was amazing. If you are at all interested in global development, humanitarianism, or simply helping others, please take this class. Prof B worked for the World Bank and is very knowledgeable on everything on development, and the chance to learn from her experiences and advice in lecture is something I greatly valued from this class. In terms of difficulty, material was not too difficult to grasp, but you do need to study hard for exams to do well (memorization is 99% of it). Policy memos are tough for everyone to get right as they are graded very precisely, so try very hard on these and get help. Overall, very manageable and interesting class! Light workload and very nice professor!
