This class was definitely one of the best I've taken at UVa. Lomasky is extremely intelligent, although many tend not to like his lecture style. He is committed to the idea of class discussion leading lecture, which tends to result in tangents and other strange discussions. Usually there are things of worth in lecture though, and Lomasky himself is entertaining.
To do well, just do the readings and go to discussion. Exams are not hard, and the papers are not bad either. Just have fun and enjoy!

horrible class. lomasky followed no structure. papers assigned randomly with no prior thought to the topic and then are due two days later. tests are unfairly graded and curved so that everyone gets a C. biggest regret taking this class
