Great class, basically what you've already heard about it. Lectures were not as great as I've heard, but definitely more enjoyable than most. The reading load, especially the novels, is pretty intensive and somewhat difficult to accomplish sometimes. But overall, a great class, especially for a required one.

this is one of the better of the 380s. A necessary course if you are an English major, and pretty fun otherwise. The discussion section that meets twice weekly can be a bit frustrating, but the discussions are pretty interesting. The syllabus is pretty solid and interesting.

Wow, just an extraordinary class. These two professors simply lecture on different levels. There's lots of reading to keep up with, but do your best to read before lecture, because these guys have incredible things to say about every single work on the syllabus.

The professors were so enthusiastic that it made you want to come to class. Plus the lit you read is great, classic.

The two discussion sections a week is definitely obnoxious (though inherently part of the 380 series, take it with Jason, he's hysterical and insightful and really encourages some worthwhile discussion), but Cushman and Levenson are just unbelievable. The readings are amazing. It's really that simple. A must-take class at U.Va.

This class is worthwhile for the reading list alone, but the Professors work very well together and the lectures always enhanced my understanding of modernist works. Lots of writing, but the TAs are very helpful since they each only have one section.

GREAT course! Interesting lectures and reading list - not too much work or difficult as long as you keep up with the reading.

This class is PHENOMENAL. I'm not an English major and I've only taken one other English class but EVERYONE at UVA ought to take it. Cushman and Levenson are two of the brightest, funniest, coolest teachers at the University. The books you read are great--they are all famous ones that you ought to read anyway, and the lectures are so interesting and so much fun. Far and away one of the top three classes I've taken here--sign up quick!
