DeVan is a great section leader. He is approachable, intelligent, and makes every student feel that their opinion is valued. Although he has some prepared questions, he usually doesn't use them unless the group can't come up with questions they have on their own. He is very willing to let students guide the discussion, and he knows the material well enough to explain any questions brought up. He is a fair grader and his rubric is clear (and he gives it to you before you turn in your first paper). I recommend going to his office hours if you have time, but he definitely doesn't penalize you if you don't. Highly recommend him as a TA--only wish I could take a class with him as the full-on professor.
