Professor Hagerman is very passionate and knowledgable about the topic. There are 2 papers, midterm and final. For the papers, one she picked a topic for us and then other was a research paper for any topic we wanted. She reads very thoroughly and takes grammar seriously so proofreading is a must. Tests were straightforward if you do the class readings and pay attention. It is helpful to do the readings before class but not necessary but just do them before the tests. Overall I loved this class and Professor Hagerman is personable and cares about students who are engaged and ask for help.

Very interesting material. TONS of reading, but worth it. Good discussions, and Hagerman is very attached to/opinionated about the subject matter.
The class is incredibly interesting and not wildly difficult, but Professor Hagerman definitely picks favorites. Her tests aren't too hard if you know what to expect, but she grades your paper quite harshly, so it would be in your best interest to submit a draft. I would not suggest missing class, but sit towards the back because professor is LOUD. Overall, SWAG3200 is worth taking.
Interesting class, tough grader
Do the readings and go to lecture. As long as you study for the exams and put effort into the two papers, you'll be fine.
She grades very rough, but I enjoyed the course material and learned a lot. I wound up having to put way more effort into this class than I had initially anticipated.
