PLAN 1010

This class is super easy - you don't need to do the readings, and you don't really need to pay attention in class, just cram for the midterm and final, and you'll do well. The paper is annoying, but the professor didn't even seem like it was that serious.

The course emphasizes the environmental planning aspect. This can be frustrating because a lot of the lectures are the same general ideas that aren't really feasible in America. I didn't find the class to be terribly insightful, but it also wasn't very difficult.

Lectures are really boring. Reading isn't related to the midterm and final. You don't need to read or go to class to do well. Just review the list of terms he gives out and you're fine.

This course is fairly easy. Lectures are kind of boring but the material is interesting. Beatley is amazing in his field but unfortunately cannot get all his ideas out in lecture and often goes over timewise. But I would still recommend this class as an easy course!

Probably the most useless and boring course I took at UVA. Not difficult but not very educational either.

I was mostly disappointed by this class- I had a big interest in planning before entering the class but by the end of the semester didnt feel that I had really learned anything new. Beatley clearly has enthusiasm for the subject, but the survey of all the fields of planning didnt go into enough depth to be substantial

Interesting class with a lot of topics. It's kind of redundant with the examples being very repetitive, but when you see something you like it will help you decide what class to take later in the Planning.

He's very passionate about the subject and it's easy to tell through his many somewhat unrelated stories which get kinda boring. No need to do the readings. The exams are relatively easy and the paper is graded fairly easy too.

Extremely easy class. If you go to class every once in a while or do some of the readings you will know exactly what is going on in the class and will do well on the midterm and final which are the only two graded assignments.

This class is extremely easy and mildly entertaining. Beatley truly has a passion for Urban Planning and grades rather lenient. Know the basic concepts and you will do fine
