Whole-heartedly recommend this class. Through my studies in history, social history has never been a highly emphasized topic so this class was a welcomed change of pace. Lambert is a great lecturer, genuinely invested in the subject, helpful with students, and has inspired me to take more classes that focus on social history. Typical assignment distribution for a history course and the reading was always very manageable. I'm almost done with my history major and Rachael is easily the best TA I have had. Take this class.

Lambert was slightly awkward, (pause for questions), but very knowledgeable and easy to approach. I think this class really depends on the TA. Rachael was fun in discussion, but harsh grader and often did not explain why points would be taken off. Two 5 page papers, midterm and final. I guess if you like history it's an easy course. I put in minimal effort (studied the night before, wrote papers in one sitting) and got a B.

This is a very good class, and is very unique in regards to how it approaches European history. You don't need to remember many dates and the course does not go very chronologically, but you get a very good understanding of how life was during the era. Lambert is a good lecturer, and Rachael is a fantastic TA.

Professor Lambert makes it clear that the early modern Europe was a complex world. The many problems and issues that occurred during its time resonate even to this day. Professor Lambert emphasizes on understanding the times, rather than merely memorizing the events.

Lambert is a great professor. Her lectures are engaging and feel necessary- you really need to be there to get the most out of the class and get a good grade.
Midterm and a final with two papers. These were pretty standard for a history class, more about knowing trends than memorization. Reading was also pretty standard for history, on the short side most weeks.
