This was the first class I walked into at UVA as a first year, and Profe made me feel so welcomed. She is definitely my favorite professor I have had so far. The course is centered around different works of Spanish and Latin American literature. Homework consists of reading (or watching) the works and completing either comprehension questions or a short reading quiz. There are 3 tests (that are pretty easy if you study), a couple of short commentaries and papers, and one group presentation. Take this class!! (Fall 2024)

Nieves is the best professor I have ever had. Her class is very interesting and engaging and she cares for her students. Not much work at all just a few readings/questions per week. No final just a fairly short essay at the end (I think she gave everybody an 100%). Definitely take for Historical Perspectives OR just take any class with Nieves
