Really boring lectures and a ton of readings, but the class overall wasn't that horrible.

Lectures are scattered and repetetive but easy to do well if you do the reading
Overall, this is a pretty easy class. As long as you go to lecture and discussion, you WILL get a good grade. The readings are much more usefull for the first half. I didn't do any of them for the 2nd and still got an A. Also, Prof. Blumberg is really interesting and tells amazing stories. I would take the class for this reason alone.
This class has a great topic that is unfortunately boring in lecture. You really can get away without attending lecture; just do some reading and get the notes. It's really easy. Make sure you get a good TA
This class is all about women and is taught from a very feminist viewpoint. A more conservative viewpoint on gender is not acceptable. This was the most frustrating class I took at UVA because I disagreed with a lot of the readings, but was not necessarily "allowed" to disagree with opinions during discussion. The class offered an easy A, but I would have rather received a lower grade in another class than sit through a semester about "gender", i.e. only women.
Blumberg is a cool lady, but her lectures are scattered and hard to follow. She means well, but loses alot of her students in her tedious descriptions.
