Dr. Stern really does a great job with this course. She really does try her hardest to help her students actually learn concepts instead of just learn facts and definitions. This semester was completely online and half of her lectures were done synchronously but were recorded for anyone who couldn't make it while the other half was outright asynchronous. Instead of tests, there were weekly quizzes, discussion posts, small group discussion participation, and journal reflections. Although it's a lot of "small task" kind of work, it really made the class a lot more manageable and an easy A if you just make sure to do the tasks. She also asked for mid-semester feedback and actually adjusted the class accordingly which was really generous. As a third-year Psych major that's already taken a lot of upper-level psychology, I ended up not doing the readings and skipping lectures since most of it was material I already was familiar with. I still managed to turn in all the quizzes and assignments and get an A. With that being said, she keeps the readings relevant to lectures and includes interesting reads here and there, so they're definitely worth the time if it's one of your first psych classes or if you're genuinely interested.
