PSYC 2150

This class wasn't bad. As a non-pysc major, the material wasn't very interesting, but Prof. Willingham is a very interesting lecturer. His style isn't very straight-forward, but he incorporates media into his lectures to better explain his points. The only grades are from 2 midterms (you take 3, but one is dropped) and the final. His tests are tricky, and even if you think you know the material there are a lot of trick questions and answers. This is not an easy A class by far, despite the lack of homework.

The subject itself is interesting, and the Willingham provides very fun scenarios and examples replete with websites, videos, and diagrams on his lecture slides to demonstrate psychology concepts. His tests aren't terrible but there are only 3 midterms and one final. You can drop your lowest midterm. I always thought that tests were really easy while taking them but my grades were only average. But still, it's a fairly interesting class that doesn't have a huge workload.

I took this class my first year (Spring 2009), and it is one of the best courses I have taken in the psychology department. Willingham is hilarious and engaging, even in a class of 250+ students, and the material is really interesting. However, this is NOT an easy class. You need to read the book closely, no skimming. You have to be at lecture, because while Willingham posts slides to Collab, most of them will not make sense without context from class. His tests are possibly the hardest I've had in my four years; they're multiple choice but require a very detailed, thorough understanding of the material. If you're willing to put in the work, this class is incredibly rewarding.

For some reason, I would say that this class is really hard even though I got an A+ in it. Dan Willingham is a really funny and nice professor and is really interesting. The class itself is slightly complicated and unintuitive but definitely worth it and is very informative. I feel like I learned a lot taking the class and I feel like Prof. Willingham made the material fun and understandable. The tests are challenging, but all Psych tests are pretty much. The average was frequently in the 60s or 70s...but he curves it so it's fine. I would recommend this class for its content. I think it is one of the more interesting 2000 level classes in the Psych dept.

Professor Willingham is engaging and hilarious. If you pay attention in class and read the chapters, you will do well in his class. Not a gut class by any means, but doable. I highly recommend to those who are interested in the "why we do this, what is the reason for this" in terms of thought and cognition.

Willingham's the man. He makes lectures interesting with videos, examples, and short psych experiments for the whole class. You have to go to lecture to do well in the class though. Definitely worth taking.

Willingham was a great professor and definitely my favorite after my first year. I feel like I've learned a lot (although mostly theories). The content is great and Willingham presents it with a cool and humorous spin. The tests were difficult, but don't take this class because you think it will be too hard. It's a good challenge and I don't think this was THE hardest class I've taken my first year. Anyway, the enjoyability makes up for the difficulty.

Willingham is hilarious and class itself is fun. The tests are very tough. There is a curve at the end though which helps.

Hardest class ive ever taken at UVA.

Willingham is an extremely funny person, a very engaging lecturer. However, his tests are VERY difficult, to the point I thought it was rather unfair. This class is by no means an easy class, you have to work very hard to even get by. I recommend this class because of the professor, not because of the class itself. If you want an easy psych class this is by NO means it.
