I really liked Professor Kruks-Wisner and it is clear that she cares about students and our ability to understand concepts. She is also very understanding and respectful of our time, and doesn't really expect us to always have done all of the reading, which is nice because most profs are not as realistic about how much reading students will do per week. When I took it the assignments were weekly discussion posts (for completion), a midterm essay, a final essay, and a group presentation project. Lecture was usually pretty interesting but a bit fast paced and hard to keep up sometimes, because of all the information crammed in one class. We also had time to discuss in small groups, which was nice with guided questions. I don't think this class was exactly what I was expecting, as it was more theoretical instead of a hands-on approach to grassroots politics or discussing political organizing or protesting, so if that's what you're looking for, just be aware that it is more about studies of local political participation (voting, bureaucracy) than actually discussing past grassroots political movements. But it is pretty easy to get an A as long as you feel confident in your writing skills and pay attention/take notes during lecture- because you will need to use a lot of lecture information in essays!!
