Do not take this class and I would recommend you to stay away from anything taught by Harrop. We never received a syllabus. He consolidated a semester worth of work into the last two weeks of class. Our "readings" were random-ass WashPo articles. He loved to name drop scholars and acted like they were on a first-name basis. He would hold review sessions and then not come to them. Saying he is disorganized is putting it mildly. This class was a disaster and I learned a very minimal amount.

Harrop is a nice guy and clearly very smart, but this course was so disorganized. We never received a real syllabus, but instead kept getting emails from Harrop at 3:00 A.M. telling us what readings were due the next day. He means very well and loves the subject matter, but often just goes off on tangents during class and forgets to stay on topic. Quizzes are kind of tricky (he tests for very specific information), and he doesn't give them out until the last two weeks of class. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this class in its current form. I want to write a harsher review about the course, but Harrop is such a nice guy and clearly means very well so it's kind of hard to justify saying this class was really terrible.
