Do not take this class. The instructor’s teaching style and professional abilities made learning unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. Instructions were consistently unclear, lecture slides were vague and poorly constructed, and expectations were never communicated in a concrete or usable way. Despite this being an elective and effectively introductory-level course, it was treated as if students should already know exactly what the instructor wanted—even though those expectations were never stated. The instructor frequently came across as condescending and dismissive toward students, particularly when questions were asked for clarification. Rather than helping students understand the material or assignments, responses often made students feel talked down to or as though they were at fault for not intuitively knowing unstated preferences. This created an environment where many students avoided asking questions altogether. Feedback on assignments was weak and unhelpful, offering little explanation for grades received. Although rubrics existed for a few major assignments, they were broad and inconsistently applied, making grading feel arbitrary and based on personal preference rather than stated criteria. Requests for clarification or regrades were met with rigidity and little willingness to engage. Overall, the instructor struggled to convey material clearly, failed to communicate expectations transparently, and maintained a tone that was discouraging rather than supportive. The difficulty of this course stemmed not from rigorous content, but from poor instruction and communication. (Class was taken in Fall 2025, idk why it's not an option above).
