This was a super hard class but definitely very interesting. I did decently on all exams (B-B+) and somehow still managed to get an A! Sherman is a pretty good lecturer but reviewing homework and doing practice problems helped me the most. I was admittedly terrified of him at first but he's very nice and even brought in donuts for our class! He's also very understanding about illnesses and points of confusion in class as long as you email him. Overall, a very rewarding class that takes quite a bit of effort.

One of the most interesting classes I've taken at UVA. You are essentially proving and thinking more in depth about all the things you've been taking for granted in math since middle school. Really interesting class, and not super difficult if you work at it. Sherman expects a lot out of you, but made an effort to get to know the class, and you can tell he really wants you to learn and do well. That said, he can be somewhat intimidating at first, but all that went away when he brought donuts and his two young kids to class one day. Great class for a math major/someone interested in math. Gabe is an awesome TA!
