Alan Taylor is an all star. This guy can flat out teach history, and he will blow you away every lecture. If you have any interest in US history, and want to learn from the best, take Alan Taylor's class. I loved it so much, I had him sign my book on the last day of class!

Probably the best class I've ever taken at UVA. Alan Taylor is a great professor, and is is one of only a few classes I've truly enjoyed going to every time. Also is fairly easy and the reading is light compared to most history classes.
