This class had so much reading. I could never finish it for discussion since we were assigned over 500 pages a week. The class was enjoyable. Elizabeth was a wonderful TA and was very helpful. She clarified what was said in lectures. There was no final. We had a midterm, 4 short papers, and a final paper.

Onuf's lectures can be pretty crazy. Many times, you have no idea what is going on. They are absolutely hilarious though. He is a really funny guy and it shows. Though lectures might be tough, he is very helpful at office hours and not just a brilliant person but a brilliant person who can teach. The grading is rather easy and he is well worth taking because he makes class exciting to the point that I never felt like missing one. Definitely worth taking because of Onuf and because everyone at Jefferson's University should have a better understanding of its founder than knowing he was a President. Pay attention, do some of the readings, and you'll really understand the man's complexity far better than you every thought you did.

Onuf was really cool, he really made an effort to get to know students even in a 120+ lecture. The amount of reading was less than what I've seen for other history classes, and the midterm was hard but you were given a lot of time for each paper. I beg to differ, Martin was a great TA but he doesn't need to teach anymore because he got a fellowship.

AMAZING class! Mr. Onuf can be a little difficult to understand at first, but he is brilliant, so nice, and so so funny! Very helpful in office hours, best class I have taken at UVa. LOVED it. Grade is based on midterm, four short papers, and one final five page paper. SO GOOD. Made me change to history major.

I enjoyed this class more than I thought I would, it wasn't a class about hailing Jefferson as the greatest person on this earth, Professor Onuf was a great lecturer, funny and entertaining, but the midterm was difficult, but I think that was taken into consideration. Overall I really recommend this class, I thought it was great
