I loved this class!!! I learned historical information that was useful, accurate without censorship or bias, and that opened my eyes so widely I felt like all I had ever learned was a lie. Professor Sweeney was very passionate and interesting! We were taught various hidden but major human rights violations throughout several historical periods, where the US often was a participating or influencing actor, and the socioeconomic/bureaucratic implications. I can't say enough how much I learned and how my viewpoint on US history and our government has changed (not for the better). Truly an astonishing and tremendously superb course that I highly recommend to any student. Not much work outside of class besides reading articles, response papers and short responses.
