Mikalson really broke this class down so that it ends up not being that bad. He goes over the materials very carefully and the discussion that you have really help you learn the materials. There is a ridiculous amount of quizzes in this class, but doing well on them really saves you a lot of time studying for tests. Overall, take it because it's definitely one of the best classes at UVA.

Best class ever. Mikalson was born to teach this class. Great pace and well structured lecture. Megan the TA is wonderful. If you are a classic major, make sure to take this class with Mikalson. Getting an A is very attainable.
Mikalson is an amazing teacher, but don't go into this class expecting anything easy.
Professor Mikalson is one of the stalwarts of the University. Brilliant and crystal clear. Good at making a difficult language easy--easier and better than Latin, in fact. Grades everyone's prepared sentences himself. With a calm perfection and with subtle, constructive scorn, he makes everyone want to work harder and do better. His tiny facts about ancient Greece and personal stories about his travels there leave his listeners with no doubt that they're taking the right class and using their time wisely.
Mikalson is kind of scary, but he will teach you Greek. Attend lectures because you will learn NOTHING from the textbook - worst textbook I've ever used in a language course. Harold is an awesome TA, hilarious!
Mr. Mikalson is a great teacher. He gives out handouts for every lecture and gives great explanations with helpful examples.
Prof. Mikalson is an excellent instructor - he cares about students and is very clear in his expectations and in the way he teaches. Zoe is awesome - take any Classics class you can TA'd by her. The book (Chase and Philips' New Introduction to Greek) sucks, though, so plan to go to lecture and section every day if you really want to get the concepts.
