I normally give the benefit of the doubt to my teachers and I love English and writing. However, this class arguably ruined so much of what I love about writing. This class was focused on cryptic and dark poetry that did nothing to advance our writing and critical thinking was seldom. The professor is a nice person and he cares about his students but he is an awful teacher. There is no clear sense of how you're doing in the class as I feel like I'm in a private progressive classroom set in the 1970s. The class has no clear direction or purpose except talking about whatever is on someone's mind. During the first month of class 20 minutes we talked about coronavirus. That's all fine and well, except when the rest of the class lacks substance and you're being graded is incredibly unclear. This class is a fucking joke and absolute disaster, please don't take it.

The title of the course was deceiving, so the topic turned out being really boring. Class discussion was seldom interesting, the readings were mostly style guides. Really vague writing prompts that weren't that exciting to respond to. Feedback is a little nasty in writing, although he's a nice guy in person.
