Professor Fowler was really kind and encouraging. She was great in the seminar setting because she thoroughly enjoyed class discussion as well as the Arthurian material we read. Indeed, the readings were fun and interesting (especially if you love medieval stuff and fantasy literature). They were a little unbalanced, i.e. the first reading took six hours while other weeks' readings took half an hour. The only real work was the excurses (500 word trial-run essays) which were low-stakes—but you should try hard on them because you use them in the term paper. The 10-page term paper was the central product of the course. It was difficult and really required me to improve my writing. But because of that I came away from this course with a stronger ability to read and write. Otherwise, the workload was meager. Overall, I recommend this class and professor.
