I would avoid this class unless you are heavily involved in activism groups at UVa and consider social justice a passion. Walt is bit obnoxious/condescending and hypocritical (he laments at the thought of corporate control taking over universities but runs a consulting business on the side). The class is an easy A in the sense that if you do the work you will most likely end up with an A, but hours of effort-wise, there are better easy A classes. There are a ton of papers due in this class, and ultimately you will have to do the readings for class discussion/the papers (key to getting a 100 on the papers is just citing every reading multiple times). He takes attendance really seriously and will shaft you for missing classes in your participation grade, excused or unexcused. Overall, if you want to take a BS class and feel good about where your tuition is going, I would look elsewhere.
