Professor Levy is one of the sweetest and most caring professors I have had at UVA! This class really changed my perspective on many things and introduced me to having an open mindset. It is a very easy course but you do have readings every class! We always talk about them in our table groups and as a class.

This class is mostly discussion based with readings due every week. Fieldwork is also required on a weekly basis. I enjoyed this class because the fieldwork was an opportunity to practice what we preach in class. Also, Melissa is a genuine, open-minded professor.

This class is amazing! Not only is Melissa a fantastic professor, but she creates an overall comfortable environment, which is crucial for such difficult topics of discussion. It is insanely eye-opening, as the class includes a volunteer requirement within an Albemarle County school which brings insight into how our lives at the university compare to [the lives of] those within other parts of the community. This class was incredibly worthwhile!!
