ECE 2330

Professor Williams is one of the best professors I've had at UVA. He's very jolly and enthusiastic about the subject, and he presents it in a way that is easy to learn. He's super friendly if you need to ask him for help on a lab assignment. Classes are usually just him lecturing with the occasional in-class problem where you work with the people around you. In the course, you learn about different digital logic components (AND, OR, NOT gates, flip-flops, multiplexer, etc.), and how to put them together to make different electronic parts. I took this course at the same time as CS 1110, so no prior CS or ECE knowledge is needed. The course had three main tests, weekly quizzes, labs, and a final. There are 12-14 ten minute quizzes, of which only the highest 10 count. Professor Williams replaced your lowest test grade with your midterm if it was higher than any of them, so it's not too bad if you don't do well on one of your tests. I'd recommend taking this course with Williams if you can. He's great at making the subject easy and fun, and I found it really enjoyable.

Professor Williams is an excellent lecturer. His classes are fun and engaging, and the material is fairly easy to learn. He is always willing to help students in office hours. The labs can be a bit tedious at times but straightforward, and the TAs are generous with the lab grading. I've heard that his class is much easier than other CS/ECE 2330 classes.

This class is pretty easy, and Professor Williams doesn't make it more difficult than it has to be. He only keeps your top 10 quizzes and ends up giving like 16, so it's not hard to get a good grade. Make sure you study for the tests, because while they're not particularly hard it's easy to assume you know everything and think you don't have to study.

This has been one of my favorite classes. It's really easy in the beginning of the semester, so if you study and do well on the first midterm, you'll have a little breathing room when the course gets more difficult near the end of the semester. The labs were pretty tricky, but the TAs were both willing to help. Williams definitely made this course. I'm not sure if I would take it with another professor.

I found the labs to be nearly impossible due to faulty equipment and it being too complicated for the time given. Luckily my TA would give full or near full credit even when I didn't finish the lab. I would have to stay hours late sometimes to get the additional credit. The material didn't seem that hard when I was learning it, but tests were tricky

Great class. Professor Williams' enthusiasm for and great knowledge of the subject make it very easy to learn. Labs were also fun. Homework was optional but very helpful toward the test material.

Williams is a great guy, he's really jolly and happy. He openly admits that the tests are easy, but the graders are very strict on partial credit.
