Mandatory class if you want to pursue the leadership minor. It was an interesting class, fully based on speakers and cases.

I very much enjoyed going to this class. The lectures analyze real-world problems and decisions in the business world. The tests are tricky though because they will have questions along the lines of, "In class, I gave a lecture on this topic. I listed seven bullets on the concluding slide... list five of them." The tests sometimes seem to test memorization, rather than understanding of the information discussed at length in class. Aside from that, the guest speakers are awesome. There was a guest speakers once every three or four lectures. This class is mandatory if you want to apply to the McIntire Leadership minor. Bateman is a laid back guy outside of class, and has cheesy jokes in class. He is the man to you if you did well in this class and he admits into the minor.
Bateman is super enthusiastic! Awesome professor and you learn a lot from the class. Leadership is something that we all take for granted and this class really makes you think about it.
The class is really enjoyable and everything he teaches is really simple and straightforward. However, exam questions basically ask you to recite what bateman taught literally word for word. There is no reason to make the exams as nit picky as they were.
Bateman is a great guy but this class BLOWS. Unless you enjoy frantically panning through your notes (which unless you wrote down EVERYTHING the speaker or Bateman said that day, your notes are insufficient) to make sure you remember the smallest details of a lecture that will show up on tests, I would discourage taking this class.
definitely a worthwhile class. bateman is a hilarious professor with funny stories and guest lecturers that keep you engaged. midterm/ final is very picky/ word for word. go through notes thoroughly and anything that is mentioned as a possible extra credit probably will be extra credit on the exam. not a very difficult class. enjoyable and learned a lot of practical advice. you do not really have to buy the $50 coursepack. i didn't buy it this past semester and still did fine. just take good notes.
bateman is the man. he's hilarious, so it's not hard to sit through lecture. definitely take it
Bateman is a great lecturer and really funny but the class is kind of a joke. The exams are on things that are the tiniest details from lecture (so going to every lecture is a must) or outside reading that is assigned. Half of the lecture is talking to your neighbor which is nice to meet new people, but also a huge waste of time because nothing that is said is going to be on the exam. It was a fun class to take but not as easy as the GPA shows.
This class is ridiculous. While Bateman is a great lecturer, the tests are way too hard. You are forced to memorize random terms and facts from readings, which doesn't at all show your knowledge of the material. Studying for tests is a waste of everyone's time.
Bateman spells out his expectations at the beginning of the semester and keeps to them. A lot of people complain about the midterm and final, but if you go to class and take detailed notes you will do really well in the class. I got an A in Bateman's class and it was not a struggle at all. He is a very enjoyable professor who loves to teach and presents the material (even though it is not always the best) in a fun way. Definitely take the class!
