I found his lectures less useful than the textbook and actually working through the homework problems. Try not to leave them to the last minute - they can get frustrating!

Wilkie is a great guy, but the way he presents the information is somewhat useless. Class is mostly pointless, just read the book and do practice problems and this class is not that hard

He is hilarious in a unique way, you get used to some of his querks. we once counted the 80 times he said "essentially" in one class and we always laugh about his hand movements. as for the class, study the book practice problems religiously and you'll be alright. not a heavy workload but dont think the tests will be a walk in the park. difficult final in my opinion.

Wilkie is a good guy, he's just not the best professor. He teaches by simply doing a bunch of practice problems out of the book so you really need to make the connections in the material yourself. The new book was pretty good, but just do a bunch of problems from the textbook to prepare for exams. Wilkie tries to trick you on tests so make sure you don't just fly through. Final can be a killer unless you study a lot for it.

I wouldn't say that Wilkie is a bad teacher, its just that the material is more of algebraic computations that you just need to practice than actual material that needs to be taught. A new book was used this semester and the class average on the tests showed that it was better than the old textbook (much higher averages on the exams). I found that the exam questions were very fair and practice problems could easily prepare you to ok. I just skimmed through the reading in the book, and focused more on practice problems that he provided and did great on the exams. Wilkie is a great guy and his lectures are boring because of all the practice problems, but if you can manage through them you'll do well.

Wilkie is an awful teacher. The class is a lot like COMM 201 but Wilkie is definitely goofier than Erickson. His lectures are terribly boring and he asks rhetorical questions that make sitting through lecture like watching kittens get tortured. Exams are heavily based on example problems he does in class and what he puts on Collab so check that. Homework is pretty easy just very tedious. If you're not Pre-Comm, get out. If you are, deal with it.

Wilkie is simply not a good professor. He does not teach the material before diving into examples except on the review day before the exams. You're really on your own when it comes to this class. It is a necessity for McIntire, but make a study group!

This class is awful. I thought I wasn't going to get into the Comm School because of it.. luckily everyone knows Wilkie is a FOOL. The curve is HUGE though..went up more than a full letter grade.

I hate this class with a passion. Wilkie's job is to dance in front of the classroom while he pretends to educate you. Expect to teach yourself almost all of the material.
