While Professor Erickson is really nice and makes class bearable, her tests are incredibly difficult. By far the hardest class I have taken yet at UVA. Unless you are pre-comm, DON'T take this class. However, if you do have to take it, just make sure to prepare well for her tests, they are harder than you'd think. This class is definitely a weed out class, so be prepared for it to hurt your GPA at least a little bit.

Mary was great. She definitely knows what she is talking about and tries to make everything as clear as possible. She welcomes any questions and makes sure people are following. If you do take this class, take it with her and you will be prepared for the tests. (Which aren't THAT terrible). The homework is annoying, but you can go to the TA's office hours and they will help you out.

Professor Erickson's class consists of two multiple choice exams (25% each), online problem sets (10%), and a multiple choice final (40%). Attending class is extremely important because she explains concepts extremely well and will review old test problems. Her exams are tough but fair. Use her old practice problems because the new ones are extremely similar. Reading the book can be helpful, but sometimes it's overly complicated. Listen when she says that something is important because often that will appear on the test.

Hardest class at UVa, hands down. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS SECOND YEAR PRE-COMM! Unless you have countless hours to devote to studying for this class, it's very hard to do well, even though Erickson is a good professor.

Don't take this unless you have to. Very dry, very boring, and the tests are surprisingly difficult. Make sure you take notes and listen in class because it's much better than the textbook.

Everyone tells the horror stories of how bad Accounting is but don't let that intimidate you. Just put in the time to fully understand the concepts and practice with numbers that vary from the problem sets. I personally think there are far harder classes at UVA than accounting. I got a B+ and I was pleased with that

Erickson is a boss. The material is not that hard once you understand it. But the way the grading system and tests are, it's pretty hard to get a good grade. If you screw up just a tad bit, you're done.
