I don't understand why everyone is throwing Professor Davis under the fire like that. Although this course was very reading heavy, Professor Davis does his best to pick out interesting short stories for the class analyze. There will be a couple of pop quzzies based on the short stories that were assigned but nothing that wasn't manageable. Addtionally the readings ranged anywhere from 5-20 pages, which is far less than many courses you will find here at UVA. As my advisor, he does his best to answer my questions regarding course selection/course load and when he doesn't know the answer he will connect you with someone who does.

Professor Davis made this class pretty hard. It was obvious if you hadn't read because he would ask questions during the class. He also knows little about UVA courses and advising. I would suggest finding another COLA.

Take a COLA with literally anyone else. The grading for this class was way stricter than it should've been considering the average gpa for a COLA at uva is like a 3.75.
