Metcalf isn’t the best teacher, but he genuinely tries. Physical chemistry is hard, and quantum mechanics is no joke. The class moves super fast and there is an insane amount of content for 4 weeks. Problem sets are long (they aren’t that difficult though) and aren’t similar to exams. The exams are moderately difficult. He gives a sheet with the topics to review, but he puts questions about things he briefly mentioned or didn’t talk about at all. Additionally, in both 3410 and 3420, he puts little material on the first exam, and then overloads the second exam. This makes the second and third week of the class miserable. Unfortunately I think there is not enough time for him to include as much content as he does, and that is the main problem with this class.
