I adored this class. Getsy does a great job of discussing art while tying it into the broader American political scene. I found I was able to learn so much about American history that I would have otherwise never encountered. Alex Del Dago was my TA and I found him equally enjoyable. Both were extremely passionate and helpful about their work. One of the best classes I have taken at UVA. I ended with an A between the 2 exams and one writing assignment. There definitely was a lot of memorization required, but nothing unmanageable.
