Professor Kondyli is one of my favorites at UVA and I highly recommend you take this class! I came in with no background or real understanding of Byzantine art history, and she created an interesting and enjoyable class experience. She structures the class fairly, with 2 longer assignments and 2 short papers, as well as extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. The only complaint I had was the number of assigned readings, but you do need them for the assignments, and some can be interesting. are a good amount of assigned readings, but nothing crazy. Professor Kondyli is super knowledgeable and down to earth, and I couldn't recommend this class more.
