Thurneck just puts you to sleep, not interesting at all and you have to pretty much teach yourself the material. I'd take another section

Professor Thurneck is very friendly and accessible out of class. Lectures are a little boring and hard to understand at first but if you read the textbook in advance you should be fine. Tests and quizzes are fair game.

Class is really boring (having it in the morning doesn't help). Thurneck isn't a great teacher - he just stands at the board doing the problems which you can't even really see as he's standing in front of them. Seems nice, though. Do the homework.

I think this class is not as hard as I thought it would be. And professor Thurneck is very willing to teach you how to solve homework problems. But if you like to read the textbook beforehand and then go to class, you will find he doesn't always cover anything outside the book.

The class is tough. If you put in the work though, you can definitely get good grades.

Thurneck was a really nice professor- his lectures can be a little boring but I didn't believe that it was that bad since I would always be taking notes. Thurneck does not have office hours as he just allows students to email him to set up an appointment. I met with him a couple times and he was always really approachable and helpful. If you do the weekly homework assignments, the quizzes are not that bad. Study for the tests!

Thurneck is a good (albeit boring) professor but he doesn't assign homework (it's APMA.) Overall, he taught the material very well and prepared me very well for the midterms and final.

His lectures are a bit boring but he goes over a lot of examples and homework problems, so if you can pay attention, you should have a good understanding of the material. Homework is not graded which is nice bue the weekly quiz can be tricky if you haven't done it.

Great guy, just a boring subject. If you don't understand something, this is the guy to ask.

Thurneck is a great professor. APMA 212 is a boring topic by default, but he tries hard to make sure students understand all the material -- he's very patient with going over any homework problems that students have questions about. The homework isn't checked, but weekly quizzes mean that you have to keep up.
